Hends BL599 size 16 hook. Uni-thread 8/0 black. Body of a strand of Pearsall’s orange marabou silk ribbed with the black tying thread. Indian hen cape black hackle, tied sparingly. Note – there are several patterns for this fly. This is one by the late Tom Stewart, a Scottish fly tyer who had a monthly article in the ‘Trout & Salmon’ magazine from the early 1950s until he passed away in 1975. His articles were published in four volumes each detailing 50 flies. After his death an omnibus edition containing two hundred patterns was published. He tied trout, sea trout and salmon flies.
