Dai’s Greenwell

Kamasan B405 size 14 hook, Uni-thread 8/0 green. Thread body ribbed with fine gold wire. Few golden pheasant tippets for the tail. Indian Hen ginger/greenwell cape hackle,
Note – ideally the hackle should be from a Coch-y-Bonddu or Greenwell cape.
This fly is one of Dai Lewis’s of Tregaron, who was born in 1880 and fished the Teifi all his life. Apparently he was one of Life’s characters and taught my friend Ieuan D Owen how to fly fish. Ieuan wrote a book about Dai, ‘Trout Fisherman’s Saga’
