Wing of Bronze mallard feather tied to length of tail. Orange hen fibres for throat hackle. Comment – this pattern was created by Ruel Stayner of Twin Falls, Idaho, USA in the the late 1960s to represent a perch fry for fishing in the local reservoir.

Waterman’s Silver Outcast Streamer
Kamasan B800 4xl size 10 hook. UTC 140 black thread. Body of thread wrapped with silver tinsel and varnished. Body of bucktail fibres with white next to shank followed by yellow then blue. Wing topped with few strands of peacock from the sword feather.. Comment – another smallmouth bass fly, which may attract the occasional perch.

Cream Strymph
Sprite S1800 4xl size 8 hook. Textreme 6/0 Standard cream thread. Cream ostrich herl for the tail. Body of Wapsi SLF imitation seal fur dubbed to create the body. Indian hen speckled silver badger saddle cape hackle. Comment – the Strymph was created by Harry Murray of Virginia, USA to catch smallmouth bass. It was designed to be fished as a nymph or streamer. The original body fur used was cream rabbit fur but I prefer the SLF, which I think adds a bit of sparkle. I am hoping the UK perch are attracted to it.
