Black Magic
Kamasan B120 size 14 hook, Semperfli 12/0 black classic waxed thread. The body is tied short. Body of layer of thread wrapped with several turns of very fine dark copper wire ( mine is from an electric motor) then make two or three wraps of one herl of peacock dyed magenta for the ‘bronze effect’. Black hen cape hackle tied sparsely. Comment – this fly is lethal but I doubt many will use it today. It was created by Frederick E Mold and appeared in his book, ‘Presenting the Fly to the Trout’ published in 1967. One of my favourite books.

Partridge & Black Hot Spot (Weighted).
Hends BL554 size 14 hook. Semperfli 12/0 black classic waxed thread. Body weighted with lead wire then covered with thread and ribbed with silver wire. Few turns of GLO-Brite crimson (3) to create hot spot. Partridge neck hackle.

Kamasan B830 size 12 hook. Semperfli 12/0 black classic waxed thread, Few fibres of hen cape white hackle for tail. Body weighted with lead wire and wrapped with UNI-Floss red thread then ribbed with silver wire. Few turns of GLO-Brite fire orange (5) floss for thorax. Partridge neck hackle.

Kamasan B830 size 12 hook. Danvilles Flymaster 6/0 black thread. Few fibres of white hen cape hackle for tail. Body weighted with wraps of lead wire then wrapped with UNI-Floss emerald green floss. Body ribbed with gold wire. Several turns of GLO-Brite green floss (13)) in thorax region. Partridge neck hackle.

Badger & Ostrich Spider.
Hends BL599 size 16 hook. Uni-thread 8/0 tan. Body of thread over wrapped with one strand from an Orvis Tan Ostrich herl feather (very soft and fine). The tying thread is used to rib it, Indian hen gold honey badger hackle. Comment – I would fish this close to the surface or touch it with a little mucilin and fish it as a ‘damp’ fly in the surface film.
